What goes on it
The horse’s name, and if you like the breed, the yard or livery, a year (“Since 2018”) and the height. The preview updates as you type, and a name is printed exactly as it is typed, so check the spelling and whether they use the stable name or the show name.

How the print is set
The name is set large in a classic serif, centred, with a thin rule and a small diamond beneath it. The details you add sit on one line in spaced capitals, separated by dots, and the yard goes on a line of its own below. Nothing is added that you did not type: no horseshoes, no clip-art silhouettes, no slogans. That restraint is why it looks at home in a tack room and a sitting room alike.
Stable name or show name
British yards run two names at once. The show name is the long one on the passport and the entry form; the stable name is the one the yard says every day, usually shorter and often edible: the Nutmegs, Biscuits and Pickles of the world. On a print the stable name almost always reads better, because it reads like the horse. The exception is a competition piece, where the show name and the year belong together. If the horse might race, the naming rules are stricter, and the horse name generator sets them out.
What it comes on
Every format, size and frame colour is in the table above. Posters are 250gsm uncoated off-white archival paper; canvases are stretched on a 2 cm frame. On a mug and a water bottle the layout is reset to fit the wider panel.

The name print isn’t made on metal or wood.
When a name print is the right gift
It is the one that needs no photo, which makes it the safe choice when you are buying for a friend whose horse you have never photographed, or when asking for a photo would give the surprise away. It also suits a horse that has died, for an owner who would find a picture hard to see every day, and a yard or a tack room, where a row of names reads like the board outside the stables.
