How the portrait is made
Upload a photo of your horse and choose a style: Oil Painting, Watercolour, Charcoal Sketch, Pop Art or Impressionist. An AI image model restyles your photo in the style you choose. You see a watermarked preview, free, up to three a day after you verify your email, and the print uses that exact picture without the watermark.
The five styles
| Style | What it looks like | Often chosen for |
|---|---|---|
| Oil Painting | Rich, traditional, the sporting-art look | A hallway, a dining room, a long partnership |
| Watercolour | Soft, light and pale | A bedroom, a memorial, a grey or a pale horse |
| Charcoal Sketch | Grey and black, drawn lines left visible | A study, a dark horse, a monochrome room |
| Pop Art | Bold flat colour | A child’s pony, a bright modern room |
| Impressionist | Loose strokes, more mood than detail | A sitting room, a horse seen in the field |

The same photo looks quite different in each. A bay in oil and a grey in watercolour make two very different objects on a wall, so it is worth generating more than one preview before you choose.
What it comes on
The table above lists each format with its sizes, frame colours and live prices. Posters are 250gsm uncoated off-white archival paper; canvases are stretched on a 2 cm frame. Framed canvas comes in black, dark wood or natural wood. The portrait can also go on a mug, a water bottle, metal or wood, or come as a digital file.
Which photo works
JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB, at least 800 px on the short side. Daylight, the whole head in frame and the eyes in focus give the model more to work with. A horse backlit against a bright sky, a rug that hides the body, or heavy motion blur are the usual problems. Tick that you own the photo or have permission to reproduce it.

A portrait of your own horse, as a gift
A portrait is often bought for someone else: a partner who has had the same horse for years, a child with a first pony, or an owner whose horse has just retired or died. If it’s a surprise, you need a photo they won’t miss. Look through the pictures they’ve shared, or ask a friend at the yard, and pick one where the horse looks like itself: ears forward, the usual headcollar, the white blaze in the right place. The free preview shows you the likeness before anything is ordered, so you can try two or three photos and keep the best. For a portrait meant to hang in a hallway or dining room for years, the oil style is the safe pick.
