A bay in its loose box, in an oil style
The Loose Box looks into a stable from inside: a bay horse in a leather headcollar stands in the open doorway, deep in golden straw, with a blue rug thrown over the door, a hay net hanging on a ring and a sunlit cobbled yard beyond. The oil painting is warm and detailed, in straw gold, chestnut brown and the cool blue of the rug.
It is a portrait of ordinary horse care, the evening stables everyone does, and it suits the owner who loves that hour most. It is a natural gift for someone who has just bought their first horse, or for a livery yard to hang in its office. The tall format fits beside a door or at the top of the stairs, and at 40x50 cm and up it holds a sitting room wall.
It pairs with The Tack Room, and the owner’s own horse can be painted in the same oil style on the custom horse portrait.
